Overview
Communications and Marketing Officer - Academic Services Location: Statesboro, Georgia. Full Time, Regular. Department: University Communications and Marketing, Georgia Southern University. Job Summary The Communications and Marketing Officer at Georgia Southern University is responsible for strategic communication and marketing efforts to audiences including current students, prospective students, faculty, alumni and key community members. This position will work with select academic colleges at Georgia Southern University and with the University’s communications and marketing office to integrate college efforts with the University’s communications and marketing strategy. The incumbent creates compelling content to tell the Georgia Southern story in engaging and broad-reaching ways, raising visibility and reputation as a college, and embodies core values of service, collaboration, and excellence.
Responsibilities
Share important academic successes, research, student highlights and news for inclusion in University-level promotions and channels.
Assist with campaigns across various media platforms, including digital, print, web, video, mass media and college social media, in conjunction with University-level efforts.
Support efforts to increase student enrollment and engagement for the colleges and degree programs.
Coordinate marketing and communications projects for specific colleges and work with University-level marketing and communications on initiatives and execution.
Required Qualifications Educational Requirements
Undergraduate degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Communication Arts or related degree
Other Required Qualifications
Demonstrated proficiency working with major social media channels, including Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube
Demonstrated proficiency with social media monitoring and analytics tactics, tools and data
Demonstrated creativity, invention, imagination, originality, and talent in branding, digital marketing, message development, and strategic marketing
Required Experience
Two years of experience in related field
Understanding of marketing and communications mediums with the ability to plan, manage, produce and direct comprehensive strategies that incorporate print, digital and video communication to support brand messaging
Experience executing multi-faceted communications campaigns to internal and external audiences
Preferred Qualifications Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master’s Degree in education or a related field
Proposed Salary $22.36 - $27.95 per hour
This is a non-exempt position paid on a monthly basis.

Proven proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office, Google, and/or applications as required for specific position

Adhere to University policies and procedures to meet Institutional goals and support University's mission for student success
Demonstrated public relations writing, copywriting and editing skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy and a knowledge of AP Style
Budget management experience
SKILLS
Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders
Strong project management skills
