We’re looking for an experienced reporter to join our dynamic Live News Network. You will create fast‑paced, high‑impact live news coverage for our national brands—Daily Mirror, Daily Express & Daily Star—and many of our regional brands, including Manchester Evening News and MyLondon.

What the role involves

Monitor news wires, social media and other sources to pinpoint breaking stories and emerging trends.

Report clear, engaging and accurate articles at speed, concentrating on a single national or regional brand while providing operational cover across other titles when required.

Work closely with editors and reporters to shape brand‑relevant coverage, prioritise the agenda, and align live output with audience data.

Weave in multimedia—images, video, social embeds—to elevate storytelling, and consider audio and video opportunities on every story.

Contribute to planning and delivery of major news events and special projects, staying informed on current affairs and maintaining awareness of the news landscape.

Tailor content for off‑platform channels and use approved AI tools in line with company policies to optimise content creation.

Craft engaging affiliate content aligned with brand guidelines to drive traffic and generate revenue.

Who we are looking for

Experienced NCTJ qualified reporter with up‑to‑date UK media law knowledge and ideally 100 wpm shorthand (or working towards this).

Excellent news judgement, sharp instinct for engaging content and a versatile writing style across formats.

Effective cross‑functional collaborator who thrives at pace and under pressure.

Ability to interpret audience data and respond to performance trends.

Strong familiarity with digital publishing tools, CMS platforms and ethical journalism standards.

Proven operational experience in a fast‑paced news team.

Full driving licence and, where possible, access to a vehicle for first‑on‑scene coverage.
