In this position the manager, Manufacturing Communications, is responsible for developing and executing the internal and external communications strategy for Ford Manufacturing in the U.S., in close collaboration with global colleagues.
Responsibilities
Craft internal and external communications plans that support Ford Manufacturing’s and Ford Communication’s strategic objectives, and work with team members to bring them to life.
Lead strategic communications for more than 20 U.S. manufacturing plants.
Mine for great stories and find creative ways to tell them internally and externally.
Support chief manufacturing officer’s executive communications and partner with them to ensure alignment and integration of communications plan.
Serve as media relations contact for Ford Manufacturing in the U.S.
Proactively manage risks to employee sentiment, stakeholder perception and Ford’s reputation.
Supervise team members, developing their talent and guiding strategy execution.
Grow strong relationships with colleagues and media.
Continuous personal development across functional competencies and Ford OS behaviors.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
7+ years of professional experience in communications.
Track record of successfully executing strategic communications efforts.
Published storytelling examples.
Even Better (Preferred)
Staff supervision experience.
Knowledge and experience in digital storytelling and tools.
Experience in crisis and issues management.
Familiar with the earned media landscape and have prior experience working with journalists and influencers.
Demonstrated achievements in strategy development, creative storytelling, employee communications and media relations.
Commitment to excellence – ambition and urgency, paired with rigor and attention to detail.
A strong drive to collaborate and problem‑solve for mutual benefit.
The ability to apply data‑derived insights, using AI and emerging tech capabilities to strengthen results.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and knowledge of AP style; ability to distill complex concepts and communicate ideas clearly.
Strong leadership presence and comfort in a manufacturing environment.
A passion for developing high‑performing teams with a spirit of.
The ability to learn quickly and continuously improve in subsequent projects.
