Product Designer will be a self-starter with a strong record of meeting project deadlines and ability to successfully work with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment. Responsible for the design, development, and integration of various components and subsystems for military combat vehicles. Design responsibility will range from single components to full vehicle assemblies requiring large assembly management. Areas of design competency should include but not limited to mechanical and/or electrical design feasibility concepts, initial packaging studies, design of complete prototypes, production design, system integration, and balance of systems based on known requirements. A solid understanding of various design based CAD process, design methods, prototype manufacturing, and production level manufacturing techniques. Responsibilities
Design, develop, and integrate components and subsystems for military combat vehicles, from single components to full vehicle assemblies. Apply mechanical and/or electrical design feasibility concepts, packaging studies, prototype design, production design, system integration, and balance of systems based on requirements. Utilize CAD processes, prototype manufacturing knowledge, and production techniques to meet project goals. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in design reviews and customer meetings as needed. Qualifications
Essential Functions : Core Design Competencies: Manage designs using CAD software per project requirements/specifications; create 3D components (parts and assemblies) and 2D drawings (single components, system installations, exploded views). Packaging, feasibility, and kinematic studies; BOM creation and management in collaboration with project teams. CAD data management foundations (Revision History, Engineering Change Requests, Configuration Management); reverse engineering and dimensional analysis for fit and function. Troubleshoot design issues related to manufacturing, quality, and system requirements; participate in process improvement initiatives. Knowledge of ASME 2D drawing standards (Y14.5-XXX) and GD&T practices; ability to manage multiple tasks with proper prioritization. Experience with standard components (fasteners, springs, pins) and adherence to safety and environmental regulations. Core Project Competencies : Adhere to project timelines and deliverables; participate in reviews and customer meetings; provide technical support to internal and external customers as needed. Prepare and present project design status; support concurrent engineering, procurement, and prototype build/integration activities. Efficient use of Microsoft Office software. Additional Competencies (desired) : General understanding of 3D top-down design methods; familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA). Education
AS in Product Design (e.g., Mechanical, Structural, Systems, Aerospace, Automotive) Experience
8+ years of experience in product design and development for US Defense programs 8+ years of experience with PTC Creo Parametric or equivalent MCAD tools (e.g., UG/Nx, SolidWorks, CATIA) Experience in a multi-national, multi-organizational environment; experience with engineering and supply chain management in a highly regulated industry Background Prerequisites
Must undergo and meet company standards for background checks, employment verification, reference checks, and controlled substance testing. All employment at ARV is contingent upon the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance if required. Preferred Qualifications
BSc Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Management) or equivalent work experience; ability to speak German is a plus. Working Conditions
