Position Summary

PLEASE NOTE: Thisposition is for the UNM Gallup Branch, located in Gallup, NM, approximately138 miles west of Albuquerque, NM. The University ofNew Mexico Gallup Branch anticipates hiring adjunct faculty to teachface-to-face in the Fall 2025, Spring 2026 and Summer 2026 semesters in the LiberalArts & Education Division. Adjunct faculty will be expected to teachand/or develop lower division courses (1000 and 2000 Level) in Communications. Anticipated openings potentially include the following subjects: COMM 1115 – Introduction to Communication COMM 1130 – Public Speaking COMM 1145 – Sex, Lies, and Fake News: How to Use Media Wisely COMM 1150 – Introduction to Mass Communication COMM 1155 – Communication Across Culture COMM 2120 – Introduction to Interpersonal Communication COMM 2121 – Introduction to Interpersonal Health Communication COMM 2185 – Multimedia and Visual Storytelling UNM-Gallup serves a hugely diverse student population with 100+ fulltime and part-time faculty members. Weare fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission offering Associatedegrees, selected Bachelor’s degrees, Career Technical Education certificateprograms, adult basic education (ABE/GED), workforce training, and personalenrichment courses. UNM-Gallup servesmultiple high school populations including McKinley Academy, Middle CollegeHigh School, and the Center for Career and Technical Education.

The Liberal Arts & Education Division at the UNM Gallup Branch is seekinga qualified temporary part-time faculty member to teach lower divisionclasses in various courses or topics as specified above. UNM Gallupinstructors are responsible for all aspects of any class they are teachingincluding but not limited to meeting with the class during assigned timesthat may include face-to-face, evenings or weekends, content delivery,assignment development, grading assignments, reporting of grades, andassessment of student learning as outlined by the division chair.

Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by studentenrollment levels, the current course offering matrix, and demand driven bygraduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated eachsemester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses.Candidates who are selected for these positions will report to thedivision chair.

Wages Adjunct faculty are currently compensated on the basis of theircredentials and credit hour course loads, as follows:

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in Communicationsor related field Preferred Qualifications: Doctorate in Communications or arelated field. College-levelteaching experience.
