About the Role As the Communications Strategist, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the voice and message of the independent home improvement industry leader. You’ll join a forward‑thinking communications team that drives impact across the entire organization—crafting stories that inform, inspire, and align our audiences around shared goals.

This independent contributor role offers the creative freedom to develop high‑impact content and strategic messaging that reinforces our brand and supports independent business owners around the world. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep writing expertise and experience in the home improvement or building materials industry.

Responsibilities

Strategic messaging: Develop and execute internal communication strategies that connect team members to company priorities, strengthen culture, and reinforce the vision, business goals, and brand identity internally.

Executive communications: Partner with senior leaders to craft clear, authentic, and inspiring messages including speeches, talking points, videos, and announcements that inform, engage, and motivate team members.

Storytelling and brand alignment: Translate complex strategies, performance data, and company initiatives into compelling stories that celebrate success, build trust, and connect team members to the mission and brand story.

Editorial leadership: Ensure clarity, consistency, and tone alignment across all internal messaging, maintaining the highest standards of quality and accuracy in every communication.

Education and Experience

Experience: 8–10+ years of professional experience in communications, public relations, or corporate storytelling, preferably within the home improvement, hardware, or building materials industry.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.

Skills and Abilities

Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling ability.

Strong strategic thinking and message development skills.

Ability to distill complex information into clear, actionable communication.

Excellent project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

Collaborative mindset with a high level of initiative and accountability.

Proven success in supporting executive and corporate communications at a senior level.
