Responsibilities

Advise customers on necessary services for routine maintenance.

Identify mechanical problems through questioning, visual inspections, or road tests.

Discuss inspection results with customers, recommend corrective actions, and prepare work orders.

Prepare repair estimates including time, cost, and labor.

Describe customer concerns briefly on repair orders to assist technicians.

Explain performed work and charges to customers.

Handle customer complaints effectively.

Schedule service appointments.

Gather customer and vehicle data prior to service visits.

Greet customers courteously and obtain vehicle information.

Conduct test drives with customers as needed to verify issues.

Review service history, inspect vehicles, and recommend additional services.

Advise customers on vehicle care and maintenance according to manufacturer standards.

Provide accurate cost estimates for labor and parts.

Set and communicate promised completion times.

Secure customer signatures and provide copies of repair orders.

Determine payment methods and obtain credit approvals if necessary.

Notify dispatchers of incoming work.

Monitor repair progress, communicate updates to customers, and obtain approvals for additional work.

Implement and promote service marketing programs.

Review and close repair orders ensuring all work and authorizations are documented.

Ensure vehicles are parked properly, keys are secured, and work areas are tidy.

Keep service department forms, menus, and pricing guides current.

Establish quality control measures to prevent rework.

Maintain high customer satisfaction standards.

Respond to inquiries about appointments and ongoing work.

Inspect vehicles for body damage, inform customers, and provide estimates for repairs.

Maintain a professional appearance and keep the work area clean.

Perform other tasks as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or GED.

Ability to analyze problems, gather data, and draw conclusions.

Ability to interpret safety rules, manuals, and instructions.

Proficiency in calculations involving discounts, interest, percentages, and measurements.

Basic knowledge of algebra and geometry.

Strong customer service skills.

Excellent communication skills.

Professional appearance.

Willingness to undergo background checks and drug screening.

Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
