Low Voltage Designer

The firm provides specialization in the design of senior living, education, healthcare, and government facilities nationwide. Responsibilities
Develop comprehensive construction bid packages for low voltage systems, including equipment, products, and materials. Evaluate project requirements and offer tailored low voltage solutions to clients, drawing on knowledge of available products and technologies. Create detailed floor plans, diagrams, and technical specifications for low voltage construction documents. Conduct site inspections to ensure construction compliance with design specifications. Lead low voltage projects as the primary liaison for clients and coordinate the work scope with architectural, mechanical, and structural design teams (in-house, subconsultants, or clients). Stay current with industry software and technology to support design and project delivery. Assist in preparing contract documents using AutoCAD and/or Revit for schematic design packages. Lead and mentor junior engineers and designers; support senior engineers in project management and client relationships. Establish standards, policies, and strategies for low voltage systems. Attend project meetings with senior engineers or project managers to discuss work scopes and client requirements. Engage with clients to communicate design aspects, explore options, and align design solutions with project objectives and budgets. Qualifications
Minimum of 10 years of experience in low voltage systems design and/or construction (preferred). Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) Certification, required. Deadline-oriented with strong time management and organizational skills; ability to produce high‑quality documents under multiple deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills for project correspondence, reports, and documentation. Team player who collaborates, faces challenges, and contributes to goals. Extensive knowledge of low voltage system products, technologies, and the ability to evaluate project requirements and present options to clients. Experience developing thorough construction bid packages including drawings and specifications for bidding and implementation of low voltage systems. Knowledge of applicable building codes and standards; ability to research and incorporate client-specific criteria into designs. Advanced proficiency in designing nurse call, access control, CCTV, structured cabling, wireless networking, intercom, and audio/visual systems. About SFCS
