Digital Communication, Content, & Events Contractor | Texas Archive of the Moving Image (TAMI) (Austin, TX)

TAMI is seeking a creative, detail-oriented, and data-driven Communications, Content, and Event Contractor to lead our storytelling and public engagement efforts. This contract role will manage social media, email marketing, press outreach, multimedia content, and website updates—ensuring a consistent voice and visual identity across platforms. All strategies will be rooted in analytics and aligned with our mission to preserve and share Texas media history. Key Responsibilities: Content Creation & Strategy

- Produce high-quality, professional, and engaging content for digital communications, including newsletters, press releases, brochures, and social media; Serve as lead writer, editor, and designer for all communications materials, with a focus on clarity, accuracy, and consistent voice; Capture compelling photographs and short-form video content for social media and publications; Promote TAMI’s programs, events, and resources to local and statewide audiences; Manage calendars for events, campaigns, and content scheduling Digital Channel Management

- Manage and grow TAMI’s presence on social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, BlueSky, TikTok, X/Twitter, YouTube) and through email marketing; Write, schedule, and publish content; regularly analyze performance metrics to optimize reach and engagement; Keep website content updated, including text, images, and layout, with attention to usability and accessibility; Create, manage, and evaluate targeted email marketing campaigns (Mailchimp) for subscribers, donors, and audiovisual material contributors; Respond to social media messages and press inquiries with professionalism and timeliness Project Oversight

- Lead communications projects from concept through completion, tracking timelines, deliverables, collaborators, and budgets; Ensure consistent application of TAMI’s brand identity across all digital and print materials; Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and generate reports to guide strategy; Coordinate press outreach, draft and distribute press releases, and serve as a media contact Events

- Assist with the planning, promotion, and execution of Texas Film Round-Up events, as well as other public programs both in-person and online; Share and promote TAMI events both locally and across the state; Travel throughout Texas as needed to coordinate events; Capture photo and video content at events for use in communications and promotions; Track and assess event engagement to inform future outreach and programming Qualifications: Required Skills & Experience Proven experience in digital marketing, content creation, or communications (nonprofit experience a plus) Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills—especially for newsletters, press releases, and public-facing materials Proficiency with social media scheduling and management tools (e.g., Loomly) Basic photography, videography, video editing, and graphic design skills and familiarity with related tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.) Familiarity with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp) Solid understanding of marketing strategy and communications best practices Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple calendars, priorities, and deadlines Collaborative, proactive, and adaptable mindset in a small team setting Openness to constructive feedback and a strong commitment to quality Experience with analytics tools (e.g., Meta Insights, Google Analytics) TAMI is seeking a creative, detail-oriented, and data-driven Communications, Content, and Event Contractor to lead our storytelling and public engagement efforts.
