Job Summary The Marketing and Communications Assistant elevates EPU’s image and reputation by managing brand strategy and marketing across digital and traditional channels. The role directs marketing efforts toward clients, the public, and donors, boosting EPU’s social media presence and enhancing search engine optimization (SEO) performance.

Essential Functions

Brand Management: Maintain and strengthen brand visibility, ensuring consistency across all materials.

Brand Strategy: Assist in developing and implementing brand guidelines to enhance visibility and reputation.

Marketing Plan: Develop and execute marketing plans across digital, print, and events to reach clients, donors, and partners.

Social Media Management: Create engaging content, coordinate outreach, monitor trends, and interact with followers.

SEO Optimization: Improve website traffic and rankings through keyword research, content refresh, and optimization.

Content Creation: Write and manage newsletters, blog posts, social media posts, and promotional materials; research and write stories that demonstrate impact.

Campaign Analysis: Monitor and analyze campaign performance, providing reports and recommendations.

Collaboration: Work with the Development Department to align marketing efforts with fundraising goals.

Public Relations: Write press releases, coordinate media outreach, and promote events.

Client and Donor Communication: Develop targeted strategies to engage clients and donors, fostering positive relationships and growth.

Maintain confidential records in compliance with HIPAA and applicable regulations.

Adhere to EPU standards, policies, and procedures.

Follow standard operating hours (Mon–Fri, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.) with possible variations as needed.

Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.

Requirements Education Requires a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.

Skills Excellent written and verbal communication; strong analytical skills with ability to interpret data and generate actionable insights; creativity, mature judgment, and attention to detail.

Experience

1+ year in a not-for-profit or marketing/communications role (plus).

Experience with email, CRMs, and marketing software (e.g., Bloomerang, Salesforce, Google Analytics, Canva).

Experience managing social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.).

Valid California driver’s license, good driving record, and proof of automobile liability insurance.

Physical Demands Requires sitting; frequent computer use; fine hand motions. Local travel may be required.
