Job Summary Leads the compilation and dissemination of information to support the marketing communications team of Krannert Center. Manages internal projects including performance season books, compilation of artist marketing materials, and development and production of performance program booklets. Maintains content on KrannertCenter.com and collaborates on select other communications materials.

Duties & Responsibilities Project Leadership/Information Management

Interact cross-departmentally to gather necessary text, images, and information for season book, performance programs, artist marketing needs, and Krannertcenter.com.

Maintain project status list for the department, including monitoring project deadlines and updating project tracking system as needed.

Prepare schedules and text for select communications channels such as program booklets, posters, weekly emails, and advertisements, as assigned.

Lead the proofreading for Krannert Center communication materials, ensuring that content is accurate, complete, and follows Krannert Center and University of Illinois standards.

Maintain the Krannert Center writing and voice style guide; answer questions from staff related to style and usage.

Performance Program Materials

Obtain, compile, review, proof, and edit content (text and images) for resident producer (Illinois Theatre, Lyric Theatre @ Illinois, and Dance at Illinois) performance program booklets.

Supervise extra help program editor who will perform this work for visiting artist (Marquee) program booklets.

Ensure program content accuracy and consistency.

Ensure appropriate union, copyright, sponsorship, and acknowledgment credits are used.

Ensure Krannert Center’s guidelines are followed for program layout, making decisions about content order, layout of content on page, and formatting.

Coordinate and manage timely reviews of the program proof by necessary reviewers.

Manage printing and delivery of each program.

Web Content

Update, revise, and maintain content in the KrannertCenter.com content management system, University of Illinois web calendar, and other digital outlets.

Write, edit, and proofread content with accuracy and following Krannert Center brand guidelines.

Devise and implement creative content strategies and continual process improvement for website content.

Collaborative, Administrative, and Committee Work

Collaborate in the work of the Communications team to develop and implement integrated online/offline communications strategies and plans that support business goals for KrannertCenter and the performance-related areas of Illinois Theatre, Lyric Theatre @ Illinois, and Dance at Illinois.

As appropriate, participate in various committees and initiatives at Krannert Center, in the College of Fine and Applied Arts, and at the campus level. As assigned, keep records and prepare reports for periodic assessment of project resource use.

Write, edit, and/or proof for special projects if assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, communications, public relations, or a closely related field.

One (1) year (12 months) of professional work experience in marketing, public relations, communications, brand management, or a related professional area.

Note: Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year (12 months) of work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Professional experience writing, editing and proofreading.

Project management experience.

Familiarity with current office and project management software applications.

Experience with website content management.

Experience in performing arts communication.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to prioritize and manage time and multiple projects simultaneously and to consistently meet deadlines.

Ability to quickly learn new computer-based skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with a team.

Familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style or a similar style guide.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Familiarity with digital proofing software.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Professional, flexible, and respectful in all work with colleagues and clients.

Independent judgment and ability to help resolve problems as they arise, dealing with time pressures and changing or conflicting priorities.

Appointment Information This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5004 – Marketing Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. Expected start date is as soon as possible after the close of the search. Budgeted salary range: $50,000–$60,000 annually. Work authorization sponsorship is not available for this position.
