Position: Pipe Designer
The Pipe Designer leverages creativity and understanding of mechanical equipment to design, maintain, and improve the physical assets of the organization by creating drawings and material take-offs for construction, operation, and layout of systems.
Accountabilities:
1. Safety: Process Safety Information (PSI)
Ensure compliance with HSSE standards, INEOS Life Saving Rules, and 20 Safety Principles. Update PSI for the plant, including P&ID’s, electrical schematics, and specifications. Update PSI in response to MOC’s, projects, or improvements affecting plant safety information. Ensure safety compliance with OSHA, ANSI, INEOS policies, and other safety standards. Participate in hazard identification and observation programs, reporting unsafe acts or conditions. 2. Mechanical Design
Prepare detailed design drawings for FEED and fast track projects. Revise and create mechanical drawings, layouts, piping isometrics, and specifications. Assemble and issue design packages for construction. Support all project phases, including commissioning and start-up. Prepare process flow diagrams, piping & instrument diagrams, and equipment layouts. Assist maintenance and operations with design support. Coordinate with vendors and internal teams, review drawings, and ensure compliance. Support equipment installation and ensure design specifications are met. Collaborate on cost-effective and regulation-compliant designs. Manage parts lists, procurement lists, BOMs, and specifications. Perform field surveys, document conditions, and recommend solutions. Generate as-built drawings and analyze design changes for fit and interference issues. Minimum Profile:
Associate degree in Engineering Technology or CAD, or 15+ years relevant experience. 10+ years in mechanical design within refinery, midstream, or petrochemical industries. Technical Skills:
Proficiency in AutoCAD or SolidWorks. Understanding of ANSI/ISO/ASME drafting standards. Basic measurement tools and manufacturing process knowledge. Microsoft Office Suite skills, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook. Competencies & Behavioral Skills:
Attention to detail, problem-solving, and mathematical skills. Adaptability to shifting priorities. Effective communication, teamwork, leadership, and research capabilities.
