Position Overview
Develops detailed design drawings and specifications for code vessels, code separators, piping systems, structural skids, packaged assemblies, mechanical equipment, controls, etc. using computer‑assisted design and drafting (CADD) software. Works in conjunction with design engineers, project and shop personnel to produce detailed layouts, hand sketches/drawings and project notes to convert into CADD blueprints.
Essential Job Functions
Develop detailed design drawings and specifications using CADD software.
Experience with 3‑D design, ASME Code, welded steel structures and piping preferred.
Read and interpret P&ID’s, PFD’s, and GA drawings.
Produce detailed layouts, hand sketches/drawings and project notes for CADD blueprints.
Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs.
Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or reduce production problems.
Verify dimensions of materials to be used and assign numbers to the materials.
Draw and lay out schematic, orthographic or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machines.
Work collaboratively with others to pursue department and company goals.
Review schematics and answer questions pertaining to assembly procedures and instructions.
Layout, draw and reproduce illustrations for reference manuals and technical publications to describe operation and maintenance of mechanical systems.
Verify the nominal fits of all parts as they are detailed from an overall layout.
Manage and plot CAD files, original plots and CNC part programs per company standards and manage the electronic file backups.
Incorporate red lines to original drawings from shop drawings as delegated by engineering.
Self‑check and correct all work prior to submitting for final review/production.
Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Technical/Trade School certification.
Four (4) to six (6) years of experience in CAD Drafting and Design (Inventor, SolidWorks and/or Cadworx).
Preferred Qualifications
Associate’s Degree in Engineering, preferably mechanical.
Four (4) to six (6) years of experience in mechanical, electrical and instrumentation drafting and design.
Position Criteria
Working knowledge of 3D CAD Systems.
Demonstrated proficiency within any related drafting discipline (civil, mechanical, electrical, process piping, etc.).
Knowledge of Pressure Vessels, Skids (Structural), piping and P&ID’s.
Must have knowledge of production equipment, GPU’s, Separator packages, etc.
Must be able to read and understand ASME Pressure Vessel Code Calculations.
Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
Excellent written/oral communication skills.
Results‑oriented and able to work both independently and within a team environment.
Strong problem‑solving, organizational, and administrative skills, including computer proficiency.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, sit and/or walk on a hard surface as well as safely bend, stoop, reach, climb steps, and use ladder.
Lift up to 25 pounds.
Vision abilities required: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Vision to accurately read all related distribution documents and computer monitor screens.
