Job Description about the position…
The mechanical designer at Power Design is responsible for designing mechanical and plumbing systems on large-scale projects. The role involves performing HVAC load and plumbing flow calculations, selecting equipment, and creating ductwork and piping layouts.
Position details and responsibilities include:
Coordinating the best design solutions for mechanical and plumbing systems by applying industry standards, considering customer needs, and adhering to budget constraints.
Providing design guidance and support to team members, including working directly with Revit CADD technicians to ensure quality and constructability reviews.
Communicating effectively with clients, project teams, and authorities having jurisdiction.
Qualifications and experience sought include:
Being a team player who acts with customers in mind, thrives in a dynamic environment, and has at least three (3) years of relevant mechanical/plumbing design experience.
Having knowledge of constructability and solid fundamentals in mechanical and plumbing system design and installation methods.
Experience with VRV, WSHP, DX Split systems, and/or CADD/Revit, with a bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred.
Detailed knowledge of mechanical and plumbing codes (IPC, IMC, IBC, ASHRAE).
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interpret blueprints, submittals, and specifications, and perform basic plumbing calculations.
Knowledge of HVAC load calculations using Trane Trace or similar programs, and experience in duct sizing and layout for air systems.
