Job Description As an I&C Designer at Olsson, you will support the development of high-quality engineering solutions for data center projects. You’ll assist in preparing instrumentation and controls design documents, collaborate with engineers and other disciplines, and help ensure designs meet project requirements and safety standards.
Primary Responsibilities
Prepare instrumentation engineering/design deliverables, including Instrument Index, Instrument Data Sheets, Installation Details, Instrument Location Plans, Wiring Diagrams and Loop Diagrams
Develop control systems (DCS/PLC) data sheets and design documents: I/O Lists, Process Control Narratives, Graphic Sketches, Cause & Effect Diagrams, Alarm Rationalization
Coordinate with third‑party control system vendors and participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT)
Develop and review P&IDs for various projects
Select and size I&C components such as valves, thermowells, orifice plates, and relief valves
Collaborate across disciplines to develop level sketches and ensure design integration
Review vendor documentation and provide technical recommendations
Mentor junior engineers and support team development
Ensure compliance with company and project site safety policies
Perform other duties as assigned

You bring to the team
Experience in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
Associate's degree preferred
5+ years of experience in instrumentation and controls design, preferably in data center or industrial projects
Proficiency in engineering design software and tools, including REVIT
Strong understanding of control systems (DCS/PLC), instrumentation technologies, and industry standards
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with internal teams and external vendors
A proactive mindset and commitment to delivering solutions that meet technical and safety requirements
