Home Depot Installation Services Design Consultant

NKBA A Home Depot Installation Services (HDIS) Design Consultant sells exterior and interior products and services to customers. The primary responsibility is outside sales visits to customer homes and trade shows. The role involves travel and working away from a dedicated office, with sales efforts and incidental activities occurring at customers' homes or via virtual channels. The consultant will travel to customer homes to make sales calls, assess needs, make tailored product recommendations, develop and negotiate customized price quotes, present warranty information and financing options, and ensure orders meet installation specifications. The role also involves proactively soliciting and acquiring new customers inside assigned THD stores and during industry events, maintaining local relationships, educating store associates on HDIS offerings, and promoting HDIS programs.
Key Responsibilities
Travel and engage in outside sales activities, primarily in customers’ homes.
Conduct professional and compelling sales presentations; adapt quickly to customer needs and advocate HDIS solutions.
Perform incidental activities to complete sales (assessing needs, developing price quotes, measuring specifications, etc.).
Present warranty and financing options; prepare for appointments and process sales-related paperwork.
Prospect for new customers inside and outside of assigned THD stores; participate in industry events; seek referrals; build relationships with store management and associates.
Attend sales and store team meetings to improve techniques and learn about HDIS offerings.
Direct Manager/Direct Reports
This position reports to a Sales Manager.
This position has no direct reports.
Travel Requirements
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements
Most of the time is spent sitting; occasional movement or lifting of light articles may be required.
Working Conditions
Usually in a comfortable environment with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort (dust, fumes, odors).
Regular local travel required; access to reliable transportation; travel reimbursement as required by law.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
3-5 years of prior in-home or virtual sales experience.
Prior home improvement industry experience.
Prior experience with successful lead generation.
Computer and application skills and use of varied technology (email, iPad, apps, etc.).
Minimum Education
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma and/or GED.
