S3 , Inc. has an immediate need for a Proposal Technical Writer who will be part of the corporate Publications/Proposals team at our corporate HQ in Research Park, Huntsville, AL.

Description 'The Technical Writer manages the workload and support for the preparation of contract task orders and task order proposals, as well as research, marketing, and document development for the company’s various programs, capture managers and directors.'

Responsibilities

Provide technical input in the creation and revision for proposal collateral, marketing materials, maintenance of the publications database for sample proposals, past performance, skills, tracking, capture plans, and other business development tools and documents.

Consult with S3 business entity managers to determine technical requirements relevant to technical task order proposal development.

Provide technical content for development of white papers, RFIs/RFPs/TOs and other technical documentation as required.

Draft compelling and technically accurate narrative sections, such as the technical approach, project plan, management plan, and executive summary.

Conduct interviews and workshops with engineers, project managers, and other SMEs to gather detailed technical, financial, and operational information.

Articulate technical solutions in a way that is easily understandable for both technical and non-technical audiences, depending on the section.

Maintain and update a content library or boilerplate database with pre-written, standard information for use in future proposals.

Edit and proofread all proposal sections for grammar, clarity, consistency, cohesiveness, completeness, correctness, and compliance. This includes rewriting content submitted by SMEs to fit the proposal's overall strategy and voice.

Ensure all documents adhere to a consistent style guide and follow the precise formatting requirements of the RFP.

Keep track of changes and versions throughout the proposal process to prevent errors and ensure the most up-to-date content is used.

Work with the proposal manager to create and adhere to a strict project schedule, ensuring all deadlines are met.

Collaborate closely with a cross-functional team, including sales, business development, and legal, to ensure a cohesive and compelling final document.

Support and incorporate feedback from "color team" reviews, where internal stakeholders assess the proposal for completeness and strategy.

Assist with the final submission, including any physical printing, formatting, or uploading to online portals.

Support any post-submission clarifications or revisions requested by the client.

Qualifications

Bachelors’ degree in Marketing, English, Journalism, Computer Science, Business Administration, related to defense technical writing.

12 years of relevant experience with at least 6 years of experience in similar tasks for the DoD technical services contractor proposal development environment.

6 years of experience providing, reviewing, and editing technical documentation in a DOD contractor proposal.

6 years of experience preparing technical descriptive documentation for presentations, proposals, graphics, white papers, etc.

4 years of experience preparing, editing, and publishing technical documentation for DOD, missiles,and space programs.

2 years of experience preparing technical documentation, proposal volumes, etc. in the Army ground-based weapons and communications industries.

2 years of experience conducting Market research in a DoD environment.

2 years of experience working a high value task that requires input, corroboration and feedback from senior leadership, including C suite, in which the objectives have not been identified.

Must possess a solid 5 years of experience understanding DoD and US Army programs for aviation systems (modernization, sustainment, and program execution) related torotary wing and fixed wing aircraft, UAS and C-UAS.

Must have experience in other DOD programs (ground-based weapons, C4ISP, and communications).
