Position Summary The Video Coordinator for the Connecticut Sun is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the team’s video operations, including playbook creation, game coding, practice recording, film breakdown, and video support for coaching, scouting, analytics, and player development. This role plays a vital part in ensuring that the coaching staff and players are fully prepared through accurate, timely, and high‑quality video resources. The Video Coordinator will also help implement league‑mandated video technology and workflows while serving as a key liaison between the coaching staff, players, and basketball operations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Create, manage, and maintain the team’s digital video playbook.
Assist coaching staff with live in‑game video management, including operation of bench tablets and troubleshooting technical issues.
Live‑code each game and prepare halftime edits for immediate review by the coaching staff.
Support coaches in preparing film for meetings, scouting reports, and game plans.
Assist in creating individual personnel scouting edits and customized video clips for player development.
Collaborate with the basketball analytics staff to track player performance trends through video.
Record, organize, and distribute practice footage for coaches and players.
Provide video support for on‑court player development sessions as needed.
Navigate Hudl/Instat or other platforms to pull video clips and statistical data as required.
Ensure compliance with league‑mandated video equipment and standards.
Recommend new tools, processes, or workflows to improve video analysis and overall efficiency.
Consistently be available and prepared prior to coaches’ arrival to ensure all video needs are met.
Travel with the team for all road trips to provide full video and technical support.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
Train and support the Assistant Video Coordinator/Assistant Operations staff member in video workflows and basic video needs.
Coordinate with the Assistant Video Coordinator/Assistant Operations staff to label video footage for analytic breakdowns.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Video Production, or related field preferred.
Must have at least 3 years of previous experience in basketball video coordination or operations, preferably at the professional, collegiate, or high‑level amateur level.
Proficiency in Hudl Sportscode and related video software; knowledge of Hudl, Instat, Synergy or similar platforms.
Strong technical troubleshooting skills, particularly with tablets and video equipment in high‑pressure environments.
Ability to travel extensively and work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as the team’s schedule requires.
Competencies
Understanding of basketball strategies, terminology, and scouting processes.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in fast‑paced settings.
Excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.
Training Requirements
Must complete all appropriate Human Resources Manager Training courses.
Understanding of Time & Attendance system and Manager Self Service systems.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
Must be able to travel extensively and work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as the team’s schedule requires.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to work various shifts and flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
