In light of our ongoing growth and the launch of several exciting new projects, we are seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer to join our Feeder Product Vertical team. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to a high-performing team and assume a pivotal role within our Feeder division.
About the Role In this role you will be performing the following tasks:
Produce detailed 3D models and fabrication drawings for heavy mechanical equipment, mainly Feeders, Hoppers, Chutes, Isolation Gates, and Structural Frames.
Work closely with engineers, project managers, and workshop teams to ensure all designs are accurate, practical, and compliant with Transmin standards.
Use Autodesk Inventor for modelling and Vault for data management, revision control, and design documentation.
Participate in design reviews, contribute to design improvement discussions, and resolve fabrication or assembly challenges.
Incorporate feedback from the production and site teams to continuously improve design quality and efficiency.
Support the development of new feeder concepts and contribute to refining Transmin standard product range.
Ensure all design outputs meet engineering, safety, and quality requirements in line with company and client expectations.
Take ownership of assigned feeder design packages, ensuring alignment with project schedules and deliverables.
Provide technical support to fabrication and assembly teams during manufacture and commissioning.
Contribute ideas for improving Transmin’s standardisation, automation, and design efficiency processes.
About You
10+ years’ experience in mechanical design and drafting (preferably in mining or materials handling).
Advanced skills in Autodesk Inventor, with experience managing assemblies and drawings in Vault.
Strong detailing skills including weld symbols, machining tolerances, and fabrication methods.
A solid understanding of steel fabrication, sheet metal, and mechanical assemblies.
Experience designing or supporting heavy equipment such as Feeders, Conveyors, or Process Machinery.
The ability to work independently, problem-solve, and manage design tasks from concept through to issue for manufacture.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering and workshop teams.
Experience working within structured engineering systems such as BOMs, revision control, and drawing registers.
Familiar with Australian and Mining Company Standards.
A Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent design qualification is preferred. Experience with hydraulic or automation systems will be highly regarded.
