Overview

IMEG, one of the largest design consulting firms in the U.S., seeks a Technology Project Designer in Anaheim, CA. The role leads design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for low to moderate complexity projects and collaborates with senior staff for delivery of larger and high complexity projects. You will work with a team of engineers and consultants to provide engineering solutions and advice to clients to ensure positive outcomes. Primary responsibilities include assisting in engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of low-voltage technology (ICT) systems in buildings. You will work within the project budget, train, mentor, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations. IMEG

Principal Responsibilities

Lead design efforts for the analysis of IT structured cabling, audio/video, security, and other low-voltage building systems. Use engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards.

Interact with clients to understand needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively. Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication.

Work as part of a project team to support consulting projects. Lead planning, budgeting, and scheduling tasks to meet deadlines and objectives. Document design decisions and client instructions while monitoring progress related to percent complete and fee expended.

Analyze engineering problems and propose innovative, practical solutions. Collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop efficient outcomes.

Provide in-process design reviews of IT, audio/video, security, and other low-voltage system designs, calculations, and specifications. Implement IMEG quality control processes to meet internal and client standards.

Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in low-voltage ICT engineering. Contribute to research and innovation efforts within IMEG.

Prioritize safety in all engineering work. Identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with ICT systems.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.

Identify potential project problems and seek advice from the Project Manager.

Oversee projects through bidding and construction administration phases.

Required Skills/Abilities

Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts for producing technical plans and specifications.

Strong technical and analytical skills including electrical voltage/current, digital/analog signals, and basic IT networking relating to low-voltage building systems.

Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff.

Proficiency with industry-standard engineering software and tools.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively in a team.

Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities; adaptability to new challenges.

Proficiency in BIM software and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Clear verbal and written communication to individuals or groups.

Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays.

Education and Experience

Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical, Electronics, Computer or related Engineering/IT/CS or equivalent; required.

Engineering In Training (EIT) certification preferred.

Minimum 3 years of experience (4 preferred) in building design consulting; OR an Associates degree or BIM/Engineering certificate with 7 years of experience (8 preferred) in building design consulting or construction.

Physical Requirements

Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds.

Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands/arms, and grasp or pull.

Limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises.

Salary and Benefits Salary range is $92,000 – $123,000. Minimums and maximums may vary by location. Individual pay is based on experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
