Location: Birmingham, AL Client- Alabama Power Contract- 3 years Position Overview
The
Technical Writer
will serve as a key member of the
Power Delivery Data Analytics team , focusing on
internal communications and technical documentation . This role ensures that technical concepts, processes, and updates are clearly communicated across the organization, supporting both business and technical stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
Documentation Development:
Write, edit, and review technical documentation, user guides, and knowledge base content for internal software applications and analytics dashboards.
Content Management:
Maintain and update existing articles and technical content in preparation for fix version releases, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
Presentation Support:
Create engaging
PowerPoint presentations
and assist in developing
video content
that highlights new applications, features, and benefits for varied audiences.
User Feedback Integration:
Gather and analyze user feedback to enhance documentation and overall communication effectiveness.
Internal Communications:
Draft concise, engaging emails and newsletters to communicate project updates, system changes, and organizational announcements.
SharePoint Support:
Assist in the development and maintenance of
SharePoint sites
to ensure accurate content and effective knowledge sharing.
Executive Summaries:
Translate technical concepts into clear, actionable
one-pagers
and executive briefs for leadership.
Required Qualifications
1–3 years of experience in
technical writing , especially
end-user product documentation .
1–3 years of experience in
internal or corporate communications .
Superior understanding of
language and grammar principles
(APA, MLA).
Familiarity with
data analytics, Power BI, and application development concepts .
Strong
time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills .
Excellent
verbal and written communication skills ; ability to collaborate across multiple levels of the organization.
Proficiency in
Microsoft Office Suite , particularly PowerPoint and SharePoint.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in
Technical Communications, Computer Science, Journalism, or a related field .
Knowledge of
UX/UI principles
and user experience design.
Experience with
video editing tools , such as Camtasia, Adobe Premiere Pro, or After Effects.
