Job Description Classification Title: Postdoctoral Associate
Ph.D. Required
University Writing Program at the University of Florida, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, invites applications for the position of Postdoctoral Associate to begin January 1, 2026. The position is a non-tenure accruing appointment with the possibility of renewal for up to two additional years. The University Writing Program offers a wide range of writing‑intensive courses such as themed critical thinking and writing, writing in the disciplines, and professional writing.
Postdoctoral Associates teach existing upper‑division courses in areas such as Writing in the Law, Writing in the Medical Sciences, and Writing in the Humanities and develop courses in their own areas of interest. The teaching assignment is 3/2.
Responsibilities
Teach existing upper‑division courses in composition and writing across diverse disciplines.
Develop new courses aligned with program priorities and student needs.
Coordinate with faculty to ensure curriculum integration and quality assessment.
Maintain effective student engagement and support through office hours and assignments.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in composition, rhetoric, English, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience teaching discipline‑focused writing at the university level.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Commitment to inclusive teaching practices and student success.
Preferred Qualifications
Expertise in environmental or social justice rhetoric, digital and media studies, science writing, or public‑facing/community‑focused writing.
Experience developing courses for diverse student populations.
