Assistant Technical Designer, Men's
Position Summary
Kith is looking for a technical design assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate loves technical design, exhibits accountability, reliability, and adaptability, and possesses strong organizational and time‑management skills. The role is purely to support the technical design department and will report to the Design Director.
Location HQ – Williamsburg, Brooklyn (Full‑time, 100% onsite)
Compensation $60,000–$65,000 annually
Responsibilities
Create and develop detailed tech packs for factories/vendors, ensuring precise communication of design, construction, workmanship, and quality‑control specifications.
Execute initial styles from design handoff through production to meet required aesthetic following sketches and/or original samples.
Measure and examine samples with specifications against requests at all stages to prepare for scheduled fittings.
Collaborate with peer teams, supervisors, and vendors to provide technical direction on specs, pattern, construction methods, and techniques to improve fit, balance, and overall quality within company calendar deadlines.
Ensure all products conform to company standards and brand values, aiming for high‑end quality.
Maintain grading, fit consistency, and key measurement standards across all styles and product categories.
Participate in weekly fit sessions and collaborate with designers and merchants to translate fit and aesthetic details.
Anticipate and resolve fit‑process issues, partnering with vendors to resolve problems as necessary.
Work closely with Technical Design leaders to enhance and evolve processes and procedures while driving quality elevation.
Translate design intent into prototype samples with vendor partners.
Provide fit comments, pattern corrections, illustration sketches, and construction feedback to confirm fit and design intent.
Conduct risk assessment with the Production team to mitigate risks in bulk production.
Approve construction samples, mock‑ups, and bulk swatches/production as needed.
Perform other technical design–related duties as required.
Qualifications
0–3 years of experience in Technical Design.
Bachelor's degree in Technical Design or Fashion Design.
Extensive pattern‑making and draping skills with knowledge of garment construction.
Experience with contemporary/high‑end brands (preferred).
Menswear experience (preferred).
Proficient in Gerber AccuMark.
Superior organizational skills and excellent time‑management.
Excellent communication skills and team‑oriented mindset.
Knowledge of POM.
Highly proficient in Google Workspace, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel, and PLM.
