Job Title: Engineering Designer We are seeking an Engineering Designer with a keen interest in Automotive Design to join our team in Warren, MI. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing math and design solutions to fulfill subsystem and component requirements. This role demands creativity, initiative, and independent problem‑solving skills, as well as the ability to lead cross‑functional teams for issue resolution. The individual should have a passion for technology and a drive to become an expert in Automotive Design, Engineering Best Practices, and Manufacturing Requirements Training in NX, Catia, Creo, or similar platforms.
Responsibilities
Support component and subsystem requirements by developing, refining, and finalizing criteria and typical sections.
Develop standard modeling methods and processes.
Demonstrate proficiency in design standards and best practices, applying them to design operations and processes.
Apply manufacturability, design for assembly, and integration knowledge to parts and subsystem designs.
Facilitate and participate in design reviews, both scheduled and informal workstation reviews, as needed.
Document and maintain material, mass, and other part specifications within the NX file.
Support CAE with studies to improve designs.
Complete, analyze, and apply NX analysis results for solutions of subsystems/components.
Support the global vehicle development process and maintain math fidelity for each cycle.
Independently integrate component subsystem design into systems.
Perform studies/alternatives and participate in recommendations for program direction.
Stay informed of current product developments and trends in the area of responsibility.
Support lessons learned by updating best practices and participating in learning sessions with program teams.
Create math data models of advanced, complex components, systems, and subsystems.
Proactively communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
Release system/subsystem parts to meet timing requirements with quality.
Actively identify new areas for learning and take advantage of learning opportunities.
Support current product change management processes.
Essential Skills
Technical design/engineering program or 3+ years of design/engineering experience.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
Proficiency in design software such as NX, Catia, and CAD.
Solid modeling skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with standard modeling methods and processes.
Understanding of design for manufacturability and design for assembly principles.
Work Environment The position is based in Warren, MI, and involves working with advanced design software such as NX, Catia, and CAD. The role requires effective communication with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders. The work environment encourages continuous learning and staying updated with the latest trends and developments in automotive design.
Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Warren, MI.
Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $45.00/hr.
