Primary Responsibilities
The successful candidate will perform 2D drafting and 3D modeling using AutoCAD and Revit software for new structures and retrofitting of existing structures.
Assist Lead engineers in the development of projects from conception and feasibility through final construction deliverables.
Provide support to Lead Designer and/or act as lead designer for small projects.
Coordinate with other disciplines including piping, process, mechanical and electrical.
Generate plans and details through understanding and use of existing facility drawings.
Participate in project review sessions with all disciplines to ensure project standards and quality control measures are met.
Attend project coordination meetings.
Work with senior staff to develop both office and project-specific drafting, modeling and presentation standards.
Work with senior designers to help create technical solutions to improve productivity and accuracy.
Review and understand vendor submittals and equipment drawings in order to extract pertinent design information.
Be willing to learn and perform drafting work and designer tasks for other disciplines when necessary – including mechanical, piping and electrical.
Participate in gathering information from project sites, including field measurements, photographs and document research.
Aid senior staff in the training of junior designers.
Perform work during regular office hours with regular and reliable attendance.
Qualifications / Qualities
5 to 10 years of structural drafting and modeling experience with steel and concrete
At least 5 years of experience specific to industrial projects is preferred.
2 years of technical school education with CAD and structural drafting / design or equivalent or associate degree in Architectural or Engineering Design Technologies.
Experienced at developing framing plans and details for steel, concrete and masonry structures.
Proficient use of software, including Revit 3D modeling, AutoCAD drafting, MS Office applications, Plant 3D, Navisworks, 3D point‑cloud scans.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to consistently meet project deadlines and perform work during regular office hours.
Must be a self‑starter who seeks challenges and who takes pride in, and ownership of, results and performance.
Must be willing to take on increasing roles of responsibilities as skills develop in order to progress into more senior positions.
Must pass drug test, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company’s driving policy.
Valid US Driver’s License
May be required to pass a background check prior to employment.
Typical duties will be performed in an office environment with occasional travel to operating facilities or construction sites. These require the ability to sit for extended periods of time, or to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance. It also requires sufficient hearing, vision acuity, depth perception and the ability to remain focused on tasks. Lifting 25 pounds objects may be required.
