This position supports import operations by specializing in U.S. Customs clearance procedures and documentation. The Import Specialist coordinates global shipments, prepares and submits required entries, and ensures compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection regulations. Key Responsibilities
Write customs entries, preparing and submitting all necessary import documents and declarations to CBP. Classify goods accurately using the tariff schedule and customs regulations. Arrange and coordinate last‑mile delivery, dispatching trucks and managing inland transportation from the port of arrival to the final destination. Coordinate customer service for inbound international shipments entering the United States. Obtain and maintain client standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure all required import documentation is accurate and compliant. Coordinate with internal departments (Logistics, Warehousing, IT) and external partners (carriers, customs brokers, clients) to resolve shipment issues. Handle client requests, including billing inquiries, and refer complex customs or operational issues to the Manager. Participate in other projects as assigned. Ideal Candidate
At least 1 year of experience working directly with a freight forwarder focusing on customs clearance and import operations. Experienced entry writer, including familiarity with current tariffs, classifications, and CBP regulations. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, Excel). Highly self‑motivated, organized, and able to multitask effectively. Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines with a positive attitude. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Passion for delivering high‑quality customer service and willingness to be a collaborative team player. Education & Certifications
High school graduate required; a college degree in logistics, business, transportation, or a related field is a plus. Industry certifications related to customs, logistics, or transportation are a plus. Salary
$65,000 – $68,000 per year.
