Equipment Service Technician job at STERIS - Commercial Operations. Anchorage, AK.
Are you mechanically inclined with a knack for hands-on work? Do you enjoy a flexible schedule and working independently, but also have the support of a team? The Equipment Service Technician is a remote-based customer-facing employee, primarily working inside hospitals. You will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing medical equipment used in surgical procedures, as well as providing installation support on complex mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic units.
Individuals with experience working in HVAC repair, mechanics, maintenance, refrigeration, boilers, chillers, equipment repair, diesel and automotive repair, aviation repair, plumbing, electrical, etc., are often successful.
This is a remote position
(working out of your home), but you will be in the territory as a field technician every day. What you will do as an Equipment Service Technician (EST): Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of STERIS and competitor equipment, systems, and components. Manage time effectively by prioritizing customer and business needs to complete preventive maintenance, service calls, warranty calls, equipment installations, field upgrade programs, and other duties. Work with cross-functional teams (Tech Support, Engineering, Service Contract Management) to escalate issues and utilize advanced technology platforms to meet compliance requirements and document troubleshooting processes. Provide customers with information, pricing, and repair options. Build relationships with sales to enhance customer experience and identify sales opportunities within your territory. Support various locations within your assigned territory based on service agreements and customer needs. Required qualifications: High School Diploma or GED with 4+ years of work experience, including 2 years in a mechanical/technical role. An associate's degree, relevant certifications, or military experience may substitute for technical experience. Valid driver’s license and ability to meet background and physical requirements for vendor credentialing. Customer service and team engagement experience. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Basic computer skills (Windows, email, mobile apps, data entry into multiple systems). Flexibility to meet schedule demands, including potential overnights and early/late hours based on customer and business needs.
