The Department of Theatre and Film invites applications for a renewable Qualified Rank, Assistant Teaching Professor, specializing in theatre history. This is a 9-month appointment, beginning on August 10, 2026. The Department of Theatre and Film at Bowling Green State University has 17 full-time faculty, 6 full-time staff, 220 undergraduate majors, and 20 graduate students. It offers a Bachelor of Arts in Film, with concentrations in Cinematography and Editing; Film History and Analysis; and Writing, Directing, and Producing, and a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre, with specializations in Acting and Directing; Design and Technical Theatre; and Musical Theatre. Essential Functions
Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in theatre/performance history and literature and global theatre/performance; contributing to the department's theatre production program; and potentially teaching graduate courses in the candidate's area of expertise. Minimum Qualifications
PhD or DFA in theatre. ABD will not be considered. Instructor of record teaching undergraduate theatre/performance history and literature. Demonstrated record of directing and/or designing in university or professional theatre. Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated record of teaching courses in global theatre/performance. Demonstrated record of teaching courses in pre-20th century theatre/performance history. Demonstrated research productivity. Additional Information

Names and contact information of three professional references Unofficial transcripts of highest degree earned are required of persons invited for in-person interviews. Finalist will be required to submit official transcripts and three current (dated within one year) letters of recommendation.
