Position Staff Structural Designer – Power
Key Responsibilities
Applies knowledge of standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, applicable codes and company policies and procedures.
Reviews project requirements and determines correct deliverable format and contents.
Proactively applies Quality Program to deliverables and supports continuous improvement and change management efforts.
Reviews design inputs to ensure consistency and ensures compliance with specific codes and standards suitable for the project.
May define work assignments, maintain schedules, program control systems and participate in plant start‑up activities for specialized area of expertise.
Coordinates with other design group personnel to review and exchange project information necessary for design development and supports field activities.
Focuses on the needs of internal clients and understands external client interests and drivers.
Proactively seeks and shares knowledge of latest technologies and processes, and may apply judgment and make decisions with respect to deliverables and input interpretation.
Provides guidance to lesser experienced Engineering technicians and mentors, instructs, delegates work and provides feedback.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5–8 years of related work experience.
Experience in Structural design is required.
Experience in electronic applications and programs required for performing assignments (CADD or other electronic applications).
Intermediate knowledge of engineering standards, systems, document control, departmental guides and company policies and procedures.
Advanced ability to interpret engineering deliverable content as assigned.
Intermediate knowledge of other disciplines and basic knowledge of construction and constructability practices and principles.
Intermediate knowledge of procurement and contract administration.
Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology or Diploma preferred.
Preferred Technical Skills: Bentley Open Buildings, AutoDesk AutoCad, Bentley Microstation 2D/3D, Bluebeam.
