Job Description We are looking for a Project Designer / Project Architect for our preservation projects. This full‑time position is compensated on a contract basis and requires a candidate who is well‑organized, comfortable wearing many hats, and enjoys being part of a small team. The ideal candidate is well‑seasoned in preservation, but we will consider applicants passionate about preservation and interested in entering this specialized area of practice.
Our projects typically involve historic restoration, rehabilitation, adaptive reuse, and compatible new design in historic contexts. We produce Conditions Assessment Reports, assist with projects involving historic rehabilitation tax credits, and support National Register Nominations. The design process includes engaging owners in master planning and visioning for current and future needs.
Qualifications
Professional degree in Architecture
3‑5+ years of architecture and/or preservation experience
ArchiCad proficiency; 3‑D modeling capability a plus
Strong detailing capabilities
Well‑rounded experience throughout all phases of development, including construction administration
Knowledge of building codes and Secretary of the Interior Guidelines
