Summary: Associated Truss & Lumber Co is a family‑owned, local manufacturer of floors and roofs. The company seeks a Designer with extensive background in multi‑family truss design using MiTek software to collaborate with sales and production teams and design roof and floor layouts for single‑family, multi‑family, and commercial customers.

Responsibilities:

Design roof and floor trusses for single family, multi‑family and light commercial projects.

Use software to view plans and buildings in 3D.

Navigate Windows Explorer and server folders for project files.

Size and specify EWP for load analysis using provided software.

Size and specify hangers for truss‑to‑truss and truss‑to‑beam connections.

Contact outside sources to resolve design questions or concerns (RFI’s).

Communicate clearly with peers and customers, both one‑on‑one and in small groups, to convey ideas and requirements.

Coordinate with other designers to eliminate duplication of material/framing.

Work independently while preferring interdisciplinary teamwork to solve complex problems.

Provide clear, concise communication for peers and outside contacts.

Assist with technical questions regarding trusses and framing from the sales team.

Job Expectations and Requirements:

Meet deadlines for design completion.

Work well with others and communicate effectively with peers and management.

Read and understand construction documents.

Maintain attention to detail and strong math skills to create accurate diagrams and drafts.

Spot potential problems within rough sketches and visualize solutions.

Minimum 5 years of experience in truss design.

Required MiTek program experience.

Google Suite knowledge.

Possess a “get it done” attitude and proven background of delivering exceptional work.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must be able to sit for a given period, stand, maneuver up and down stairs, and meet vision requirements (close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus).

Compensation Package:

Competitive health insurance offered after 60 days of employment (medical, dental, vision, life, and LTD). Medical coverage paid at 75% of basic coverage.

Upon completion of 90‑day probationary period, eligible for six paid holidays per year and accrued PTO.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED (Required).

Degree from a 4‑year accredited university (Preferred).

At least two years of experience in truss design.

Experience with CAD design and/or architectural design is helpful.
