The awardwinning Martha’s Vineyard Times, the 2025 recipient of the New England Newspaper of the Year, is seeking a dynamic Managing Editor to lead our 10-member editorial staff.

Beyond the weekly paper, the Times offers a daily digital news operation that includes newsletters, social media, and the daily Minute. Our digital offerings reach 20,000 members, and we are committed to enhancing community engagement through newsletters and investigative reporting.

The ideal candidate will be a resident of the Island and will oversee all daily news coverage, assign and edit stories, manage deadlines, and uphold our proud, award‑winning tradition of local journalism that serves the entire Island and celebrates its diversity.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with reporters and production to shape digital content.
• Maintain editorial quality across print and online platforms.
• Report directly to the publisher and collaborate with the Managing Editor for Features on arts and culture coverage.

Qualifications

• Strong editing and leadership skills.
• Digital fluency and a deep appreciation for community journalism.
• Prior newsroom experience (required).
• Familiarity with Martha’s Vineyard (preferred).

Compensation

Salary will be in line with the average at weekly newspapers of similar circulation and will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience.
