Join the Metropolitan New York Library Council as a Part-time Adult Services Librarian at Valley Cottage Library.

Location: Valley Cottage, New York (suburb of NYC serving the 23,000 residents of the Nyack School District)

Job Type: Part-time, in-person

Compensation: $28.00 – $30.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)

Schedule: Wednesday evenings 5:00 pm–9:00 pm; second Saturday of each month 12:00 pm–4:00 pm; fourth Saturday of each month 9:45 am–5:00 pm.

• Provide excellent reference service across formats and front‑line information desk coverage.
• Provide technology assistance and instruction in the use of online library resources.
• Offer reader advisory services to support patron interests.
• Assist with collection development within defined adult collections.
• Enforce library policies and procedures.
• Act as Person‑in‑Charge as designated by the Chain of Command.

• Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA‑accredited program.
• NYS Public Librarian Certificate.
• Experience with Koha ILS preferred.
• Proven mastery of Microsoft Office.
• Demonstrated ability to provide reader advisory and reference services.
• Strong knowledge of mobile technology, eBooks, and digital platforms.
• Ability to communicate and teach concepts to a varied audience.
