Under general direction of the Library Manager, the Library Circulation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the circulation work unit and performs assignments of an administrative and technical nature. The Library Circulation Supervisor will supervise, plan and coordinate the circulation services of the library; coordinate assigned services with other units in the library, outside agencies and the general public, and provide highly responsible and complex staff assistance. This position involves extensive public contact and excellent customer service skills. This position also involves providing extensive staff training and ensures policies and procedures are followed.

The Library Circulation Supervisor is distinguished from other paraprofessional positions by the amount of time the Library Circulation Supervisor is involved with the direct supervision of paraprofessional and clerical library staff as well as having overall responsibility for the circulation section.

RETIREMENT - PERS
CalPERS 2% @ 60 (Classic Members) or CalPERS 2% @ 62 (New members). The employee pays the full employee portion of the retirement contribution, and the City does not participate in Social Security.
SOCIAL SECURITY

VACATION LEAVE
The City provides full time and probationary employees with 90 hours of annual vacation accrual, increasing up to 180 hours based on years of service. Please refer to the San Marino CEA Memorandum of Understanding for vacation accrual formula.
SICK LEAVE
Employees receive 96 hours of sick leave per year, maximum accrual of up to 240 hours.
HEALTH COVERAGE
Effective July 1, 2024- June 30, 2027, the costs for all medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, short-term and long-term disability plans shall be fully funded by the City for the Los Angeles County region of medical coverage.
In the event that the "FFBP" fails to cover the actual costs, the individual employee shall pay the difference.

Duties:
- Train and evaluate the part-time Library Assistant that is responsible to ensure Library Clerks and Library Page adhere to policies and standards in the absence of the Library Circulation Supervisor.
- Train and supervise staff at the circulation desk in library policies and processes pertaining to checking materials in and out of the collection, registering new patrons, and collecting overdue fines, answering phones, directing calls, and sorting mail.
- Train and supervise Library Clerks and Library Page in the maintenance of the library stacks so that reshelving library materials happens in a systematic method.
- Plan, organize, and delegate work to staff at the circulation desk, to reshelve library materials, and process new items.
- Resolve patron issues and address patron feedback at the circulation desk, on the phone and via email promptly and courteously.
- Responsible for effective and uniform services provided by circulation staff to the public.
- Conduct inter-library loan searches and maintain inter-library loan files.
• Recommend new circulation policies and procedures.
• Supervise Southern California Library Cooperative courier shipments.
