Responsibilities

  • Writing and editing technical materials, such as equipment manuals, appendices, or operating and maintenance instructions
  • Liaising with engineers, developers, and other technical personnel to create and review documents.
  • Leading the creation, editing, and maintenance of all technical documentation for a project or system
  • Developing and enforcing documentation standards and style guides
  • Support technical editing, proofing, and document standardization across all publications
  • Managing the document lifecycle and mentoring junior writers to ensure the quality and consistency of all technical publications.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Communication, or a related field
  • 9+ years of relevant technical writing experience
  • 5+ years of experience as a technical writer supporting technical programs or DoW/government clients
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and document collaboration tools (e.g., SharePoint, Confluence)
  • Experience documenting IT systems, software tools, or cybersecurity procedures

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree in a related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience developing comprehensive documentation suites for major government or defense programs
  • Familiarity with industry documentation standards such as MIL-STD, IEEE, or DoD 5000 series
  • Experience with XML-based authoring tools or structured documentation (DITA, MadCap Flare)
  • Active or recently held DoD 8570 certification (e.g., Security+, CISSP)

Clearance Requirements

  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility

Physical Requirements

  • The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations.
