RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct space planning, layout and utilization of furnishings and equipment, lighting and color coordination.
Develop innovative design concepts that are practical, aesthetic, safe and conducive to intended purposes and function within project budget.
Implement all phases of a design project, including contracts, budgeting, scheduling, planning, design, documentation, specifications and construction, including selection and specification of furniture.
Maintain positive client relationships throughout the project, keeping the client apprised of progress on a regular basis.
Estimate material requirements and costs.
Solicit bids and assist in subcontracting fabrication, installation and arrangement of materials, finishes and furnishings required.
Keep the project on schedule and communicate with other disciplines, vendors and contractors to incorporate all information into project requirements.
Respond to RFI’s, CO’s and review shop drawings during the Construction Administration phase, participating in field site reviews.
Use Deltek Vision to complete work plans, identify project team members, budget, consultants, schedule and manage financial outcome of projects.
Implement and utilize HOK Standards for all projects and processes, ensuring documentation and contracts comply with Technical Board standards.
Incorporate Integrated Sustainable Design solutions and foster a green workplace through sustainable work practices.
TEAMWORK
Render conceptual design ideas and prepare 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings.
Prepare, correct and update documents during schematic design, design development and construction administration phases.
Coordinate color and material palettes.
Produce written documentation related to the project, including agreements, meeting documentation, transmittals, memoranda, etc. using HOK standard formats.
Review documents for adherence to building and ADA codes, ensuring documents are in concert with design intent.
Communicate with consultants, contractors, sub-consultants and other disciplines to ensure project details are carried out.
Assist in design presentations.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with consultants, contractors and jurisdictional/approval agencies.
Foster a commitment to external and internal client service.
CLIENT INTERFACE
Represent the client in obtaining bids and awarding construction contracts, and assist with negotiating fees and contracts.
STAFF DEVELOPMENT
Mentor and direct the work of less experienced staff.
Participate in interviews and recruiting of professional staff.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Explore and identify new opportunities to add or enhance professional services with existing clients.
Participate in selected marketing and business development opportunities.
Assist in development of fee proposals for marketing proposals.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Requires a bachelor’s degree in architecture, interior design or foreign equivalent.
Prior experience in healthcare interiors projects preferred.
Must be a professional interior designer and have passed the NCIDQ exam or be a registered architect with current license required.
If registered architect, NCARB registration preferred.
LEED credential required within 12 months of employment.
OTHER
Travel will be required.
