Overview
The Division of Administration/Office of Technology Services has a vacancy. This position is located in the Product Delivery Section. Req. 214395. The Office of Technology Services aims to be a responsible partner in delivering innovative, effective, and reliable solutions that support and enhance the IT functions within Executive Branch Departments. The Office of Technology Services will work to increase the return on the State’s investment in technology by promoting smart decision-making, solving problems intelligently, increasing the rate of project success, and fostering a skilled and professional staff. The incumbent is responsible for leading the design, usability and user experience of new and existing applications through tools and processes according to standards.
Qualifications
Five years of experience in information technology, project management, business analysis or administrative services; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in information technology, project management, business analysis or administrative services; OR
An associate's degree in information technology plus three years of experience in information technology, project management, business analysis or administrative services; OR
A bachelor’s degree plus three years of experience in information technology, project management, business analysis or administrative services; OR
A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in an information technology, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or business analytics field plus two years of experience in information technology, project management, business analysis or administrative services; OR
A master's degree plus two years of experience in information technology, project management, business analysis or administrative services.
Experience substitution: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
Note: A certification in an approved area may be substituted for the education and/or experience requirements at the time of hire or promotion, provided the appointment is made from a Certificate of Eligibles.
Job Duties
Creates and edits wireframes and mockups that conform to accepted standards and procedures.
Participates in project planning meetings, leads user interviews and usability studies to discuss and understand user needs with respect to applications being developed.
Leads and participates in design and usability reviews of systems in development and production.
Leads design reviews and design critiques to help ideate on user requirements and maintain standards across teams and projects.
Leads fellow designers in troubleshooting user flow issues across projects.
Conducts accessibility audits of systems.
Leads usability testing and assists with user acceptance testing.
Attends and participates in project meetings such as daily standups, planning and retrospectives, keeping project leadership informed of progress towards project goals.
Assists in the preparation and creation of presentations and refinement of project documents to meet design and language standards.
Assists in the creation of training assets.
Assists with the development of the section’s document library and standards, including documents for design process, best practices, and guidance for internal teams and other OTS sections.
Researches and remains informed of OTS and industry standards with respect to design, usability, user experience and accessibility.
Performs all other tasks, special projects, analysis, studies, and plans as directed.
Position-Specific Details Appointment Type:
This vacancy may be filled by job appointment, which is temporary in nature not to exceed 48 months. If filled as a job appointment, the position may be converted to a probationary appointment provided a vacant position becomes available and funding is available.
