Job Description The School of Geosciences (SGS) at the University of South Florida seeks a 9‑month, full‑time, tenure‑earning Assistant Professor in Geographic Information Science (GIScience), with a start date of August 7, 2026. The candidate will advance the foundations of GIScience through novel methodologies, models, and tools, with a strong record of research in Geospatial Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI), machine learning, and spatial statistics. Cross‑disciplinary research addressing global environmental and societal challenges is encouraged. Salary is negotiable.
Responsibilities • Maintain an active, externally funded research program
• Teach and develop courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels (GIS programming, spatial analysis, statistics, GeoAI, machine learning, web mapping)
• Advise graduate students
• Contribute to departmental and university services
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
• Doctoral degree (Geography, GIScience, Computer Science, Environmental Sciences or closely related field) with a demonstrated record of teaching, academic research, and service. ABD candidates acceptable if degree conferred by start date.
• Meet university criteria for Assistant Professor appointment.
