What You Will Do GFT is seeking an
Architectural Designer
to join our
Architectural team
in
Chicago, IL ! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance to our Chicago office.

What You'll Be Challenged To Do The Architectural Designer will support architectural teams and fully commit to multi-disciplined design efforts. You will work on high‑impact projects for national, state, and local government agencies, as well as clients in the civic, transportation, transit, and aviation sectors.
In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Assist in preparing concept designs for active projects and proposals.
Assist in preparing architectural working drawings and related project documents.
Assist in preparation of project specifications.
Coordinate with internal team and consultants.
Coordinate construction administration activities such as the review of shop drawings, response to requests for information, and running construction meetings.
Work collaboratively and positively in a team environment.
Produce conceptual renderings for project and presentation purposes.
Be willing to expand your skills and grow professionally.
Education | Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture.
Minimum 3 years of experience in architectural design or related field.
Familiarity with Autodesk Revit.
Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam Revu is required.
Basic proficiency with 3D Modeling software such as Sketch‑Up Pro, Rhino or similar.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
What We Prefer You Bring (nice To Haves)
License is not required but desirable.
Master’s degree in Architecture is a plus.
Knowledge of the following building types is desired: transit, transportation, government (federal, state, local).
Working knowledge of current International Building Codes, NFPA, ADA, LEED, and knowledge of related standards such as ANSI, ASTM, ASHRAE, etc.
Experience with 3D Rendering software such as Enscape or similar is desired.
Able to work proactively and as a member of a team.
Must be dynamic, creative and detail oriented.
Compensation The salary range for this role is $60,000.00 – $76,000.00. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
