Senior Electrophysics Engineer - Optical/Visual with Security Clearance
Senior Electrophysics Engineer - Optical/Visual (Level 6) for a satellite development program in Huntington Beach and El Segundo, California. This position leads a team of engineers, analysts, and staff within the Space and Missile Systems (SMS) and Boeing Technology and Innovation (BTI) Mission Systems organizations in the development, assembly, integration, and test of a constellation of satellites.
Responsibilities
Drive technical excellence throughout all Optical Sensor development activities.
Troubleshoot sensor design and integration issues with the telescope and sensor focal plane.
Provide technical leadership to SMS and BTI sensor teams.
Serve as the primary technical interface with EO/IR suppliers.
Provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.
Work closely with program manager, program chief engineer, and other Boeing teams.
Ensure mission success and prompt resolution of anomalies.
Provide mentoring and coaching to Optical Sensor Engineers and Technicians.
Perform Technical Lead Engineer (TLE) functions for assigned mentees.
Drive best practices to meet program's cost, schedule, quality and technical objectives.
Capture lessons learned and best practices for implementation on future programs.
Resolve complex problems impacting completion of program milestones.
Coordinate with Boeing Leadership and Customer Leadership on Technical Issues and Strategy.
Basic Qualifications (Required)
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non‑US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
7+ years of experience with developmental space and/or airborne systems.
7+ years of experience working on opto‑mechanical and/or electromechanical designs.
Willing to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired)
Active Top Secret/SSBI security clearance.
Experience with product structure and product data management tools.
Experience with the design and development of EO/IR sensor systems.
Experience working on research and development or prototype programs.

Pay and Benefits Senior (Level 6) summary pay range: $198,050 - $267,950. Applications will be accepted until Nov. 22, 2025. Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Export Control Requirements This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required.
Security Clearance This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active. Visa Sponsorship: Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status.
