The Product Line Manager oversees the strategy, design, development, testing, and management of a specific product line within the medical device production industry. Overview The Product Line Manager oversees the strategy, design, development, testing and management of a specific product line within the medical device production industry. This role requires cross‑functional collaboration, deep knowledge of market trends, and expertise in ensuring that the product line meets regulatory standards while achieving business objectives. The Product Line Manager serves as the primary advocate for their product line, driving performance, profitability, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

Concept Development

Develop and implement strategic plans to meet business objectives, including revenue growth and market share.

Conduct market analysis to identify trends, customer needs, and competitive opportunities.

Prioritize product features and innovations based on market demands and technological advancements.

Oversee the entire lifecycle of the product line, from concept and development through launch, sustainment, and end‑of‑life.

Collaborate with Engineering and Sales teams to define product specifications and ensure timely product launches.

Manage product upgrades, compliance, and adaptations to changing regulatory requirements.

Communicate project information among groups, departments and units.

Review designs from suppliers.

Create technical documentation.

Ensure that all project documentation is complete and current.

Understand patents and how to navigate the patent process.

Assist in meeting safety requirements.

Establish and maintain effective communication, coordination and working relationships with all involved.

Gather and analyze feedback from customers, healthcare professionals, and stakeholders.

Identify unmet needs in the market to inform future product development.

Work closely with Quality and Regulatory teams to ensure compliance with local, regional, and international medical device standards.

Stay informed about regulatory changes that impact the product line.

Develop comprehensive project plans to ensure timely and reasonable product launch timelines.

Work with internal teams and external sales force to ensure product requirements are defined and met throughout the process.

Drive internal resources to ensure timelines, budgets, and key milestones are achieved as planned.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Biomedical Science, or related field; MBA preferred.

2+ years of experience in product management, preferably within the medical device industry or a regulated manufacturing environment.

Proven track record in managing product lifecycles and delivering growth.

Familiarity with medical device design, manufacturing, and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO 13485, FDA requirements).

Understanding of healthcare and medical industry standards.
