Join Stantec as a Structural Design Manager to lead teams delivering major infrastructure projects in the New York City Metropolitan area.
Your Opportunity Due to a forecasted influx of Alternative Project Delivery (APD) pursuits for Bridge and Transit/Rail (T&R) work in 2025, we seek a highly motivated Structural Design Manager to spearhead APD and traditional Design‑Bid‑Build projects.
Your Key Responsibilities
Lead pursuit teams for large APD opportunities within the New York City Metropolitan area, serving as point of contact to coordinate all efforts among contractor, marketing, commercial management, and design team to develop technical and cost proposals.
Lead multi‑disciplinary teams from design development through construction services on projects using Design/Build and Design/Bid/Build methods.
Review design deliverables for multi‑disciplinary coordination based on client standards and requirements.
Monitor work by other structural engineers, performing quality control and quality assurance checks on deliverables.
Mentor other structural engineers on technical aspects of projects.
Maintain and enhance Stantec reputation with clients, approval agencies, and industry professionals as an outstanding service provider.
Manage and prioritize multiple tasks and/or projects concurrently.
Grow internal and external networks to enhance Stantec reputation and identify additional talent to join our team.
Develop client relationships to facilitate project activities.
Establish, maintain, and promote partnerships in project pursuits.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Licensed or ability to obtain the Professional Engineer license in the States of NY and NJ.
Knowledge of APD pursuit workflow and design delivery.
Experience with agencies such as MTA, NYSDOT, NYCDOT, NYCEDC, NYCDDC, PANYNJ, NJ Transit, with Project Management and/or Design Management experience on large‑scale and/or APD projects for these clients desired.
Knowledge of STAAD, CSI, SAP, RAM, ETABS, and other structural analysis and design software.
Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, and OpenBuildings/OpenBridge/OpenRoads.
Thorough understanding of design codes and agency standards such as NYSBC, NYCBC, ASCE, AISC and ACI.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong leadership and team building skills are essential to meet the expectations of this challenging position.
Possess a valid driver’s license with good driving record.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; Graduate Degree highly desired.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in the structural design of Bridges and/or T&R structures. Position will primarily work in an office setting.

Pay Range Locations in NYC & CA (Bay Area) & NJ (RP) – Minimum Salary $128,600.00, Maximum Salary $193,000.00.
Pay Transparency In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
Benefits Summary Regular full‑time and part‑time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health savings accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short‑term/long‑term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full‑time and part‑time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave in accordance with state and local law.
Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
