Town of Snowmass Village The Town of Snowmass Village is hiring a Communications Specialist to join our Town Manager's Office. This hybrid position will start on or after January 1, 2026. $1,000 sign‑on bonus available. Key Responsibilities
Coordinate two‑way communication with department staff and external customers; provide strategic leadership in media relations and crisis communications. Serve as liaison between Town Manager's Office and media; assist in communication during emergency events; manage media access.Manage the Town's websites and portals; ensure consistent, accurate, engaging content; conduct quality assurance checks and content audits; troubleshoot issues. Select products, packages and vendors for current and future communication needs; recommend advanced web technologies. Coordinate public meetings and open house programs; provide public education and information; develop and implement outreach activities and special events. Develop and oversee community engagement programming; collaborate with staff to create promotional plans and resolve community issues. Prepare written material: blog posts, press releases, newsletters, presentations and public service announcements; oversee writing, design and printing functions. Monitor citizen interactions on the Town's website and social media; cultivate engagement; develop relationships with media outlets. Work closely with Town departments to ensure accuracy and consistent design standards; assist in communication of strategies or messages from senior leadership. Review analytics across all media and translate data into recommended plans to revise strategic communications plans; lead survey initiatives and analyze public opinion; implement actionable insights. Anticipate and respond to public questions and concerns; provide information as requested. Work with staff in other Town departments and outside agencies to prepare communications and promotional items for specific projects. Gather information and prepare a variety of reports and records; maintain logs and records of activities and events. Minimum Qualifications
Five (5) years of increasingly responsible media relations, public relations or journalism experience. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, public administration or a related field. Knowledge of municipal government operations, community engagement, graphic design, modern office technology and relevant policies and regulations. Ability to supervise, plan and direct a public information and communication relations program; select, supervise, train and evaluate staff; organize and manage multiple projects and deadlines; write and edit materials; respond to public inquiries; operate office equipment and apply laws and regulations.
