BGS is seeking an

Experienced Illustrated Parts Catalog Author

to join our team in San Diego. In this role you will collaborate directly with military customers, visit operational sites to improve and validate technical manuals, and translate field insights into actionable updates for parts catalogs. This position offers a unique opportunity to impact fleet readiness by ensuring accurate, user-friendly documentation and will involve travel to military installations up to 10% of the time.

Position Responsibilities:

Performs data analysis and prepares engineering data for authoring illustrated parts catalogue and/or illustrated parts list

Assesses and determines structure for depicting engineering data in accordance with applicable requirements and standards

Transitions engineering data into documentation used for aircraft maintenance

Maintain aircraft configuration by authoring engineering changes into processes and tools

Verifies technical data for accuracy

Conduct on-site visits to military installations to review, validate, and improve technical manuals and illustrated parts catalogs

Gather and document field feedback, user behavior, and observed discrepancies to inform catalog updates and technical documentation improvements

Analyze parts data, maintenance practices, and operational constraints to recommend catalog revisions and optimization actions

Create, edit, and maintain clear, accurate IPC entries, illustrations, and reference materials in accordance with company and military documentation standards

Coordinate with engineering, supply chain, and technical illustrators to resolve discrepancies and implement changes

Track and report status of documentation updates, customer requests, and action items to stakeholders

Ensure all documentation changes comply with applicable military specifications, security, and configuration control processes

Support training or briefings for customer personnel on changes or improvements to manuals and parts catalog content

Travel to military sites (up to 10%) to perform reviews, customer engagements, and validation activities

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

2+ years of experience with technical publication platforms

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

5+ years of experience with technical publication manuals

Experience with Aires platform and REDARS

Master of Science degree in maintenance field

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range:

$61,200-$82,800
