Program Manager, Venture Studio & Investment Programs
UC Davis Health Ventures, part of the Innovation and Economic Development Office, is seeking a Program Manager, Venture Studio and Investment Programs to help translate cutting‑edge academic research into impactful healthcare solutions. Reporting to the Director of Translational Funding Programs, this role supports both the Health Venture Studio and the Investing in the Future of Medicine Fund.
The Program Manager will play a central role in the Health Venture Studio by coordinating projects with faculty, portfolio consultants, and the Technology Transfer Office to move innovations toward commercialization. Responsibilities include project planning, budget/resource coordination, KPI tracking, and building networks of subject matter experts. The Program Manager will also organize workshops, networking sessions, and pitch events to strengthen engagement with innovators, industry partners, and investors.
In parallel, the Program Manager will support the Fund by managing inbound deal flow, reviewing pitches and due diligence, and preparing comprehensive reports for leadership, investors, and governance committees. The Program Manager will also monitor portfolio company performance against key milestones and investment theses, ensuring that both clinical and financial impact are achieved.
This highly collaborative position bridges innovation and investment. The Program Manager will work closely with faculty innovators, venture partners, and external stakeholders, playing a vital role in advancing UC Davis Health Ventures' mission to accelerate the translation of research into transformative health solutions.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Science, Engineering, or a related field and/or equivalent experience and training.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in program management, project management, venture capital, technology transfer, or a related field.
Experience working with a venture capital fund, a venture studio, or a university‑based venture program or equivalent.
Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Asana, Monday, Trello) and CRM systems.
Proven success in working with faculty or other innovators to help conceive of products spawning from research.
Demonstrated knowledge of medical and life sciences and engineering disciplines.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of medical and university research and intellectual property practices and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in higher education or similar environments where collaboration, team building, inclusiveness, and working cooperatively are highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
Health Venture Studio Operations Management (50%)
Collaborate with the faculty engagement team to identify, characterize, and track UC Davis human health innovations as they progress through the Health Venture Studio.
Work with commercial translation associates and portfolio consultants to create commercialization project plans, including budgets, milestones, and resource allocations.
Monitor project progress and coordinate with the Technology Transfer Office to support the advancement of commercialization pathways.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal and external subject matter experts to strengthen Studio project development and support.
Develop and maintain program documentation and communication materials, including KPI reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Support the effective operation of the Health Venture Studio, ensuring alignment of projects, resources, and partnerships with overall Health Ventures goals.
Fund Operations & Investment Pipeline Management (50%)
Support management of inbound deal flow by reviewing pitches, pitch decks, and summaries, and create reports tracking opportunities from first contact through final decision.
Assist in designing and executing structured due diligence plans for promising opportunities, outlining critical areas of evaluation, resource needs, and alignment with the Fund's objectives.
Regularly assess portfolio company performance, tracking milestones, financial health, and thesis alignment, and prepare reports for leadership, investors, and stakeholders.
Participate in the operation of the Fund's governance committees by preparing materials, coordinating meetings, and documenting decisions to ensure effective oversight.
Serve as a liaison for ventures progressing from the Health Venture Studio into the investment pipeline, while cultivating strong relationships with academic partners, investors, and external collaborators.
Plan and execute program events such as workshops, networking sessions, and pitches, and develop program documentation and communication materials, including KPI reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Based at Aggie Square, it connects researchers, clinicians, investors and industry partners to accelerate the development of human health‑focused discoveries into market‑ready solutions.
