3D Knit Technician, Design & Styling

As a Knitting Technician you will play a critical role in translating design concepts into high‑quality knit fabrics and parts. You will be responsible for operating and maintaining knitting machinery, ensuring fabric samples and production runs meet design and quality standards. You'll collaborate closely with the R&D teams to help bring innovative knit structures and techniques to market.
What You'll Do
Set up, operate and maintain flatbed knitting machines to produce samples and production fabrics in line with design briefs
Troubleshoot knitting issues and machine faults quickly to maintain production timelines and quality
Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines to ensure continuous, high‑quality output (Oiling, cleaning, needle replacement, etc.)
Maintain clear records of machine settings, yarn usage, sample development, and production outcomes
Liaise with Tesla GSM and yarn suppliers to support yarn development, sourcing and inventory
Work with Rapid Prototyping Teams (Machine Shop, 3D printing, CNC) to generate the required hard trim components needed to complete prototypes
Partner and collaborate with R&D exploration teams to build concept parts through textiles programs, iterative physical samples and application of sophisticated engineered textiles techniques and tools
Contribute to the creation of knitting best practices for transition to manufacturing
What You'll Bring
Proficiency with knitting machinery such as Stoll, or similar
Strong understanding of knitwear construction, yarn types, and textile finishing processes
Technical diploma or certificate in textile engineering, knitwear technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience
2+ years of experience operating knitting machines within a manufacturing environment
Experience in sampling and rapid prototyping
Knowledge of textiles and synthetic materials specifications and applications

Expected Compensation $88,084 - $342,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
