Overview
Assistant Dean of Marketing and Recruitment; Knauss School of Business. Reporting to the Dean, the Assistant Dean provides strategic leadership and oversight of marketing, recruitment, rankings, employer and alumni relations efforts within the Knauss School of Business. The role leads marketing and communications strategy, brand alignment with USD, and drives enrollment growth through differentiated lead generation, nurturing strategies, and streamlined processes. The position also oversees Industry and Employer Relations, data for school-wide rankings, and alumni relations. Occasional travel and work nights and weekends are expected.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: provide vision for marketing, admissions, rankings, alumni and employer strategies; translate goals and market data into actionable School-wide strategies; advise the Dean and leadership team on enrollment, reputation and external positioning; establish performance indicators and ensure accountability; ensure compliance with AACSB standards and alignment with mission-driven commitments through marketing communications.
- Recruitment Strategy, Enrollment Analysis and Product Marketing Leadership: lead internal agency model supporting all programs, set enrollment goals, plan and execute multi-channel recruitment strategies, drive lead generation and nurturing for student enrollments, participate in external organizations, manage budgets and resources, define enrollment pipelines, and utilize scholarships and financial aid to support diversity goals.
- Oversee School-Wide Marketing, Branding and Communications: plan and execute marketing/communications for the school; ensure brand consistency across programs; supervise senior director of Marketing & Communications; uphold brand standards; enhance reputation in news, social media and rankings; manage budgets.
- Oversee School-Wide Industry and Employer Relations: strategic oversight of employer engagement, prioritize partnerships, negotiate at senior levels, and ensure collaboration with curriculum, faculty, alumni relations and career services; monitor outcomes for job placements and internships.
- Oversee School-Wide Rankings and Reporting: direct rankings strategy, analyze outcomes, guide continuous improvement, and coordinate data-driven program development with relevant leaders.
- Oversee School-Wide Alumni Relations: develop a lifecycle-based alumni strategy, increase engagement and giving, and manage alumni events and referrals.
- Department Administration: hire, train, supervise and evaluate staff; manage departmental budget and expenditures; pursue cost-saving efficiencies; manage vendor contracts; communicate department initiatives and outcomes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Special Conditions of Employment
This position is expected to occasionally travel and work nights and weekends.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree required (MBA or related field) from an accredited college or university.
- 8+ years of experience in marketing, recruiting and/or sales roles.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressively responsible administrative experience in higher education.
- 8+ years of professional management experience in strategic marketing and/or recruitment in higher education.

- Proven ability to develop and implement strategic marketing, recruitment and yield strategies to attract high-quality students.
- Strong leadership, strategic planning, and team management skills.
- Lead generation, nurturing and conversion skills with digital marketing technologies; CRM and CMS proficiency.
- Experience with higher education rankings and reporting; ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Ability to manage budgets, allocate resources, and negotiate with vendors; experience presenting to executive audiences.
- Ability to collaborate across diverse teams and cultures; strong written and verbal communication; project and event management.
Salary and Benefits
Posting Salary: $9,583.33 - $12,500 per month; Excellent Benefits. USD offers competitive benefits including medical, dental, vision, retirement contributions, and on-campus facilities. The Knauss School of Business also offers compressed work schedule options and a hybrid work schedule.
Note: The salary range reflects expected pay; actual compensation depends on experience, education and budget.
