Position Overview

The SVP / head of film marketing and publicity for Sumerian Pictures will create and lead campaigns for Sumerian Pictures’ slate of theatrically released films.

Sumerian Entertainment is an artists-led independent creative studio celebrating 19 years of making music as Sumerian Records, more recently expanding into film, published media, and graphic novels under the banners of Sumerian Pictures and Sumerian Comics. Founded by Ash Avildsen, Sumerian Records has earned Grammy nominations and top charting hits. Musicians on the Sumerian label include Bad Omens, Poppy, Palaye Royale, Des Rocs, Bones UK, and The Smashing Pumpkins. Sumerian Pictures will theatrically release the upcoming romantic comedy MILE END KICKS, directed by Chandler Levack and starring Barbie Ferreira. Recent theatrical releases include QUEEN OF THE RING, DIVINITY, and TURNSTILE: NEVER ENOUGH.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all overall marketing activities for Sumerian Pictures
  • Create and implement strategies for campaigns to maximize audience
  • Develop and manage publicity plans and outside agencies
  • Budget Management: develop and manage marketing budgets for film releases
  • With content team, determine and implement film festival strategy
  • Manage digital and social campaigns for film releases
  • Manage in-theater, grass roots, media planning and partner marketing
  • Collaborate with music + publishing teams on cross-department multi‑media campaigns
  • Develop marketing media across digital, social media, and event advertising
  • Oversee creation of marketing assets such as trailers, ads, press kits, + social media posts
  • Maintain relationships with journalists, critics, influencers, and distribution partners to generate media coverage and promotional opportunities
  • Analyze campaign performance, using data to adjust for optimization
  • Collaborate with content team to evaluate projects for marketing potential

Requirements

  • 10 years+ film marketing experience
  • Strong understanding of audience demographics and current media trends
  • Excellent management skills working with creative, public relations, and distribution partners
  • Strong understanding of marketing principles, digital marketing, and campaign analysis
  • Fluent in film distribution workflows
