UI Engineer Job at McGregor Boyall in New York

A leading global systematic hedge fund is seeking a talented UI Engineer to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to build sophisticated front-end systems supporting real-time trading and analytics. You’ll work alongside quantitative researchers, traders, and engineers to design and implement highly interactive, data-driven interfaces for one of the world’s most technically advanced trading environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance web applications that support trading and research workflows.
• Collaborate with engineering and quantitative teams to visualize complex data and analytics in real time.
• Build scalable, maintainable UI architectures that integrate with backend systems and data streams.
• Optimize applications for speed, responsiveness, and efficient rendering of large datasets.
• Contribute to design system evolution, code reviews, and UI/UX best practices.
• Leverage Agile methodologies and modern CI/CD tools to ensure rapid, reliable releases.

Experience

• 6+ years of professional software development experience.
• Deep understanding of UI/UX design principles and experience collaborating with design tools (e.g., Figma).
• Proven experience in building scalable, high-performance web architectures.
• Experience with real-time data technologies (WebSockets, streaming, performance tuning) is highly valued.
• Familiarity with data visualization libraries such as D3.js, Plotly, or AG-Grid charting components.
• Exposure to backend technologies (Python, FastAPI, Pandas) is a plus.
• Strong foundation in software engineering fundamentals and version control (Git).
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and DevOps principles (CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code).

Compensation

Base salary range: $150,000 – $250,000 USD annually, depending on experience and market factors. This role may also include bonus compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.
