Position Summary: This is a part‑time student position for the academic year responsible for filming, producing, and editing video content for publication on University Housing’s website and social media networks.
Duties / Responsibilities
Administrative
- Support, communicate, enforce and abide by all university and department policies, procedures and regulations
- Attend bi‑weekly team meetings, office hours (3 hrs/wk) and monthly one‑on‑one check‑ins with supervisor
- Update and maintain content calendars
- Function as a resource for accurate information concerning housing and university operations
- Promote University Housing’s brand and disseminate information to current and future residents through self‑driven video projects
- Participate in training and in‑service activities
- Perform other duties consistent with the purpose of the position as assigned
- Work minimum 8 hours a week
Video / Social Media
- Promote the value of living on campus and foster the on‑campus community through storytelling and engaging content
- Film, edit and produce original, appropriate, and high‑quality content for University Housing social media and website focused on the UGA on‑campus experience
- Provide closed captioning, description, metadata and thumbnails for all videos
- Write engaging copy for video descriptions and social media captions
- Actively engage with viewers by posting regularly and monitoring and responding to comments from viewers
- Collaborate with team members as needed to create branded content for all University Housing platforms
Position Details
Position Type: Student Assistant – FLSA Non‑Exempt – UGA Job Code FTE .50
Annual Salary: $14.00 per hour
Work Schedule: Minimum 8 hours a week; not exceed 20 hours per week across all student staff positions, except when classes are not in session and prior permission is granted; not exceed 6 consecutive hours per shift.
Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience with creating and editing video content
- Preference will be given to candidates planning to reside on campus for the upcoming academic year
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
- Be enrolled on at least a half‑time basis at the University of Georgia when classes are in session (i.e., enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours for undergraduate and professional students during fall/spring semesters; enrolled in a minimum of five credit hours for graduate students during fall/spring semesters). Credit hour minimums during the summer terms and during the last semester before graduation may be different.
- Be in good standing with the Office of Student Conduct and University Housing.
- Not exceed 20 hours of work per week across all student staff positions if positions are held in multiple departments, except when classes are not in session and the student employee has prior permission from the supervisor.
- Not exceed 6 consecutive hours of work per shift.
- Participate in training led by the social media and marketing manager.
- Travel to locations on beat regularly.
- Maintain professionalism and positively represent University Housing on social media and in person.
- Student employees are considered temporary employees. A temporary employee may be separated at any time for any reason without notice and either the employer or the employee can end the employment relationship. Such separation is not grievable or subject to appeal. HRAP Employee Categories
Physical Demands
Standard for a normal office environment. May drive a University vehicle when needed to perform job tasks.
